Christmas Countdown – 3 Days

There are only THREE days until Christmas – so today The Shopaholic is counting down her favorite three coats for over your holiday outfit.  If you live somewhere with colder weather, you need to cover that cute, little holiday attire to get from point a to point b.  Let’s be stylish from head to toe, inside out!  Here goes…starting with three.

3. Victoria’s Secret Classic Wool Coat – It’s called a classic for a reason.  Tailored, great colors, good length, and perfect price ($79.99).  I have in two colors and could always go for a third!

2. Anthropologie Cassonade Coat – This works especially well if you’re wearing a turleneck or a nice scarf to compliment the deep V neckline.  The detailing is ultra-feminine which is a nice touch at the holidays.  $198

1.  My absolute favorite dress coat on the market – Betsey Johnson Embroidered Sequin Coat ($199).  It has shape, sparkle, and a pricetag that doesn’t make me cringe.  Such a holiday coat, but dress up jeans too!

Thanksgiving Eve

Twas the night before Thanksgiving and you’re ready to go out. You’ve traveled back home and it’s time to get dressed. You thought you knew what to wear, but now you’re in doubt! You want to look casual, but definitely your best!  The Shopaholic is here for you – she’s been there too! So check out my thoughts and you’ll wonder why you were ever so distraught!  Have fun, drink a beer, and enjoy the best party night of the year.

Gap’s Lurex Sweater ($54.40) is super casual while the sequin stripes add the perfect, festive flair.  Pair the sweater with Les Halles Denim Jeans ($96) for the ultimate look!  Knock ‘em dead with your killer, carefree style.

J. Crew’s Chevron Tank ($59.50) in the burnt orange just screams autumn and thanksgiving.  It looks sophisticated and sexy, especially when paired with black skinnys like the ones above by J. Brand.

Anthropologie is the place for feminine clothing, but this Ella Moss Free-Spirited top is just too cute – and since it’s cotton it’s so wearable too!  I love the idea of pairing with grey jeggings- these are True Religion ($137 at Zappos).

Shops love and Happy Thanksgiving Eve!!!

Tunic Time

Lots and lots of lounging this weekend, you know what that means?  Lots and lots of leggings.  My absolute favorite leggings are made by Rebecca Beeson.  They are thick, soft, and soo comfortable.  I bought mine on Ideeli for 60% off and I can’t seem to find them elsewhere.  Keep your eyes open for them though because they are the *perfect legging*.  Sorry to get you excited about something when I can’t even point you to it, but I’m actually here to talk about what to pair WITH the leggings.  Tunics and leggings have the perfect marriage – down to earth yet classy, chic yet casual, comfortable yet polished.  A tunic is long enough to cover your derriere, which is actually a must when I’m wearing leggings.  I want to showcase some of my fave tunics – I don’t own all of these, but I’m lusting a few. ;)

Clockwise (from left):

Juicy Couture Striped Ruffle Tunic ($103 sale) is more springtime than fall, but worth holding on to.  Gives your leggings a sophisticated look and business casual a whole new meaning.

Anthropologie Mirah Tunic ($98) is exactly what I’m looking for in a tunic following the three C’s: cotton, casual, and comfortable.  It’s long length and front pocket make it so wearable!  Online exclusive, so no point checking your local store (if you’re lucky enough to have one nearby).

Ella Moss Brooklyn Tunic ($218) is obviously one of my lusts (due to pricetag).  Cashmere blend, front pockets and low neckline = love the combination.  Please appear in my closet tomorrow.  thanks.

American Vintage Tunic ($92)…pants optional?  Well I would pair with leggings, but either way it’s a favorite.  The tie at the waist gives it a little special something.  Don’t you think?

Free People Prism Flounce Tunic ($48) is so flirty and feminine.  The details set it apart from other tops – I just love the sparkle, flouncy hem, and angled neckline.

t-t-t-tunic time!

Cozy Sweaters

The Shopaholic has been spending a lot of time at home lately – this fall weather makes you want to do that.  The weather is crisp and the tv shows are new so there’s no real reason to go anywhere.  When I’m at home, I want to be warm and cozy.  Even when I get home from work, I immediately change into leggings and a sweater.  Cozy doesn’t necessarily mean frumpy though, so it’s important to look chic even on Sundays – you never know what might come up!  So when Kaylea, from Syracuse, asked for some suggestions of cozy but cute sweaters, it made perfect sense to answer her right away!  The fact is that everywhere is stocked with sweaters right now – it’s hard to narrow it down to just five or so!  I’ve posted some of my favorites that are perfect for household errands (with leggings) or a day at the office (with black pants or denim).

Clockwise (from left): Salty Cable Trim Sweater ($128), Kenneth Cole Foldback Sweater (sale $54), Ann Taylor Cowl Neck Button Sweater ($98, buy one get one 50% all sweaters), Victoria’s Secret Boucle Bomber Sweater (sale $49), and Anthropologie Konnichiwa Sweater ($128).

Don’t Skirt Around It

Labor Day officially celebrates the economic and social achievements of workers in America, but for most of us, it’s marking the end of summer.  A chill is beginning to hit the air, college football is underway, and the stores are all having back to school sales.  Fall is here and we can start to *turn* our closets.  Don’t put away your skirts just yet though!  The fact is that skirts are sexy, feminine and when accessorized correctly, can be worn year round.  Skirts are the perfect transition from summer to fall.  I’ll actually admit that I don’t wear skirts that often, but I’ve bought two in the last month and I’m quickly changing my attitude.  The newest versions are pleated and gathered making them super *girly*.

The good news is that they are everywhere right now, so finding one in your budget is going to be an easy task.  The first two are mine, so I can tell you that I’m happy with their fit and style.   The first is from Urban Outfitter’s ($58) and the second is from Old Navy ($29.50).  Lucky for me, Old Navy makes all of their sizes available as Petite for those of us under 5’4″.  The third is a dotted beauty from Anthropologie.  The details are spot on, which is probably why it costs $198.  The good news is that you could pair it with something super simple on top.

All of these skirts can be worn bare-legged or with tights as the temps begin to drop.  Be creative, be yourself, and remember – a girl in a skirt is a girl with confidence.

Happy Labor Day – you deserve to buy yourself something real nice :)
